DIVISION of Industrial Organic Synthesis and Petrochemistry

The Division of Industrial Organic Synthesis and Petrochemistry was founded as a result of reorganization of the Faculty of Chemistry in October 2003. Members of Division are mainly former employees of the Division of Organic Industrial Synthesis (head of division: former– Prof. Zdzisław Kulicki, present from 1994 – Prof. Jan Zawadiak), as well as employees of the Division of Organic and Petrochemical Technology (head of division till 2001 - Prof. Marian Taniewski).

One of the most important goals of our Division is the collaboration with industry. The main area of research is, among others, liquid-phase oxidation processes.
Significant achievements of the Division:

  • modernization of phenol installation in Płock (collaboration with Industrial Chemistry Research Institute),
  • development of the technology of 2,2-dipyridile, as well as anthrone and 8-methylquinoline synthesis (for Polish Chemical Reagents company in Gliwice),
  • elaboration of the composition of solution for automatic blood analysers (for FAMED, Zabrze),
  • licence and implementation of new technology for the ethylene synthesis by hydropyrolysis of gasoline in Z. Ch. "Blachownia ", Kędzierzyn Koźle in 1984,
  • modernization (together with other collaborators) of the "Intercordin" technology for Polfa, Grodzisk Mazowiecki,
  • Development, licence and implementation of the dicumyl peroxide technology in Perfor Industrial S. A., Brazil in 1988-1990,
  • scientific collaboration with german industrial companies Rütgers Kureha Solvents GmbH and Rütgers Chemicals AG (study on 2 naphthol technologies as well as synthesis of 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene, 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, 1-metoxy-4-(1-methylethyl)benzene),
  • and actually study on the polyethylene oxidation technology in the gas-solid system – collaboration with EuroCeras in Kędzierzyn Koźle as well as Keim-Additec-Surfaces GmbH in Germany.
